The heavy trader consensus favoring a price drop for the Mega Dragonite ex Special Illustration Rare (Ascended Heroes) by August 31 stems primarily from the imminent August 28 release of the Mega Forces Tins, which introduce new alternate-art promo versions of the card alongside Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Zeraora ex. This fresh supply is expected to boost overall availability, tempering collector demand and hype for the existing high-value SIR variant amid a cooling post-release market. Recent Collectr and TCGPlayer data already show softening ungraded prices in the $640–700 range, reinforcing the view that the tin drop will accelerate downward pressure just days before the resolution date. Realistic upside scenarios remain limited but include a surprise demand surge from strong early sales data, delayed distribution, or renewed interest if the promos prove less accessible than anticipated.
