Steven Del Duca, the incumbent Vaughan mayor first elected in 2022, holds a dominant position in the October 26, 2026 municipal election market due to his record of delivering a 0% local property tax increase in the 2026 budget, reductions in development charges to support housing affordability, and initiatives on traffic relief and public safety through partnerships with York Regional Police. Nominations closed on August 21 with only one other certified mayoral candidate, Shelly-Ann Starlette Cerrelli, alongside limited additional names, reflecting low competition. Recent joint announcements with provincial leaders have reinforced perceptions of stable leadership on affordability and infrastructure. Trader consensus reflects these structural advantages for the incumbent ahead of advance voting in October.
