Trader consensus around an 11°C minimum in Wellington on September 5 reflects official forecast guidance from regional models and observations, which show overnight temperatures holding near this level under persistent northwesterly flow and extensive cloud cover that limits radiational cooling. Historical September climatology for the region, with typical minima of 8–12°C, aligns with current conditions where dew points near 9–10°C and moderate winds suppress further drops. The implied probability above 99% indicates strong model agreement on these dynamics through the end of the 24-hour period. A rapid clearing of skies or an unexpected southerly shift could allow additional cooling below 11°C, though such changes appear unlikely based on the latest guidance.
