Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a daily high near 79–80°F for Chicago on September 7, with northeast to east winds of 5–15 mph limiting inland warming and keeping lake-adjacent areas several degrees cooler. Partly cloudy skies and modest dew points around 60–65°F should prevent strong surface heating, consistent with the shift from earlier September’s hot, southwesterly flow. The near-even split between the 78–79°F and 80–81°F bins reflects remaining uncertainty in exact boundary-layer mixing and lake-breeze timing, while lower-probability warmer outcomes would require unexpected southerly return flow or reduced cloud cover. Updated NWS point forecasts and afternoon model runs will provide the final inputs ahead of market resolution.
