Hsinchu County's magistrate race remains tightly contested ahead of Taiwan's November 28 local elections, with trader consensus reflecting a fragmented field and lingering KMT primary divisions. Hsu Hsin-ying secured the KMT nomination in March after defeating deputy magistrate Chen Chien-hsien, yet internal tensions persist as evidenced by Chen's absence from recent party rallies. The DPP's June nomination of Zhubei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang adds a competitive challenge in a county long held by the KMT. Additional contenders including Lin Szu-ming and others dilute support, sustaining near-even implied probabilities. Key factors that could shift odds include unified KMT campaigning, DPP turnout efforts in Zhubei, or late polling shifts among key voting blocs.
