Northeast winds and a post-frontal air mass are steering cooler maritime air into the New York City region, producing mostly sunny conditions with limited daytime heating on September 6. Official National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model runs converge on a high temperature in the mid-70s, several degrees below the late-summer climatological average of 79–80 °F. Light winds and clear skies overnight will allow efficient radiational cooling, keeping morning temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s before modest afternoon recovery. Trader positioning reflects this consensus, with the heaviest volume on the 74–77 °F bins; any upward revision would require stronger southerly flow or reduced cloud cover not currently indicated in the latest model guidance.
