Recent atmospheric conditions driven by persistent subtropical high pressure have sustained clear to partly cloudy skies over the Sichuan Basin, enabling strong solar insolation and daytime heating consistent with recent highs of 33–35°C. Official and ensemble forecasts for September 6 center on 32–35°C maxima, with limited cloud cover and light winds limiting cooling; this aligns with the market-implied 45.5% probability on 35°C and 28.5% on 34°C as the dominant outcomes. A shift toward increased moisture and a weak cold-air intrusion is projected after September 8, but remains outside the resolution window. Historical early-September climatology in Chengdu shows frequent “autumn tiger” episodes with similar peaks before the onset of Huaxi autumn rains.
