Valérie Hamel of the Parti Québécois leads trader consensus in the Côte-du-Sud riding ahead of the October 5, 2026, Quebec general election, reflecting recent provincial projections that place her party ahead on vote intention. The race remains competitive due to the presence of incumbent Mathieu Rivest for the Coalition Avenir Québec, Frédéric Poulin for the Parti conservateur du Québec, and Nancy St-Pierre for the Parti libéral du Québec, each drawing support from distinct voter bases in this mixed rural-urban district. Hamel’s August 2026 nomination as a nurse practitioner has highlighted healthcare access and regional services as focal issues, narrowing gaps among the top three contenders according to updated forecasts. Traders appear to price in volatility typical of multi-candidate contests where turnout patterns and late-campaign shifts in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region could alter the final margin before election day.
