Recent U.S. sanctions relief, regulatory reforms slashing government take on oil projects to 20-35%, and accelerated foreign investment—led by Chevron's $7 billion plan to double its output—have lifted Venezuelan crude production to around 1.2 million barrels per day in mid-2026, up sharply from 2025 levels. PDVSA targets 1.37-1.4 million bpd by year-end, supported by higher diluent imports and joint-venture expansions, though operational bottlenecks and infrastructure constraints cap near-term upside according to analysts. Market-implied odds for reaching specific 2026 thresholds reflect trader assessments of sustained capital inflows versus these hurdles, with debt restructuring and further policy signals as key upcoming catalysts.
