Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered. The observed maximum temperature of 71°F at San Francisco International Airport on August 29, 2026—recorded by NOAA at 2:06 p.m. PDT—aligned precisely with the market's 70-71°F outcome. Persistent marine layer stratus, strong onshore flow from the cool California Current, and coastal upwelling maintained typical summer cooling, with highs running 3°F below the 1991-2020 normal of 74°F. This setup, reinforced by sea breezes and limited afternoon clearing, produced conditions closely matching climatological patterns rather than anomalous heat. Stronger-than-expected marine influence or heavier cloud cover could have capped readings in the mid-60s, while a temporary marine layer breakdown might have allowed warmer inland advection to push values toward 74°F or higher.
