Official National Weather Service forecasts for Houston on August 30 project a high near 97°F under mostly sunny skies, with a 20% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms and heat indices exceeding 104°F due to elevated humidity and light southerly winds. This consensus, slightly above the 1991–2020 climatological average of 92°F, drives the near-even split between the 96–97°F (50.5%) and 94–95°F (45%) bins as traders weigh the risk that scattered convection or increased cloud cover could cap the peak in the mid-90s. Model runs show limited disagreement on steering patterns and moisture influx from the Gulf, keeping outcomes tightly clustered while underscoring uncertainty around exact timing of any destabilization.
