Incumbent Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng of the Kuomintang holds a strong position in the November 28, 2026, mayoral race, reflected in his 73% market price. His re-election bid benefits from established incumbency, prior strong approval ratings exceeding 80% in earlier surveys, and party mobilization ahead of the local elections. The Democratic Progressive Party’s April 2026 nomination of Huang Shih-chieh as challenger and earlier March polling showing Chang ahead of potential opponents contribute to Huang’s 13% price. Perng Shaw-jiin’s 18% share aligns with possible alternative candidacies drawing limited but measurable support. Trader consensus incorporates these party nominations, polling trends, and the structural advantages of the sitting mayor in a key special municipality contest.
