Wang Chung-ming, the incumbent Kuomintang magistrate of Lienchiang County (Matsu Islands), holds the strongest position ahead of the November 28, 2026 local elections, consistent with trader consensus reflected in current market prices. As the sitting officeholder since his 2022 victory over fellow KMT contender Tsao Erh-yuan and a DPP opponent, Wang benefits from incumbency advantages, established local networks, and the party's historical dominance in this offshore constituency. Limited public signals of organized primary opposition or alternative nominations have emerged as of mid-2026, including during the KMT's July candidate rally, leaving potential challengers such as Tsao Erh-yuan with minimal implied support. The closely aligned prices for numerous other listed candidates underscore the absence of credible alternatives at this stage, while any late nomination shifts or cross-strait developments could still influence final positioning before election day.
