Lee Shu-chuan holds the strongest position in the New Taipei mayoral race as the joint nominee of the Kuomintang and Taiwan People's Party following his victory over Huang Kuo-chang in an April 2026 opposition coordination poll. His decades of administrative experience, including service as Taipei deputy mayor until early 2026, and endorsements from figures such as outgoing New Taipei Mayor Hou You-yi, have consolidated support among opposition voters ahead of the November local elections. Democratic Progressive Party nominee Su Chiao-hui trails in available surveys, reflecting the challenges of the ruling party's position in this key municipality. Huang's campaign suspension after the poll has reduced his viability to minimal levels, while other listed contenders show limited organized backing or polling traction. Upcoming campaign developments and any shifts in voter turnout patterns among the city's roughly four million residents remain the main variables that could influence final margins.
