The Košice mayoral race remains exceptionally close ahead of the October 24 vote because recent July polling shows the three leading contenders—Ladislav Lörinc, incumbent Jaroslav Polaček, and Martin Mudrák—separated by just 2–3 points amid an eight-candidate field, with support split across independent and party-backed bids. Polaček’s coalition emphasizes completed infrastructure and external funding secured during his terms, while Lörinc draws strength from his record as a borough mayor and Mudrák benefits from a progressive coalition highlighting fresh investment expertise and reduced political friction. Fragmented voter preferences, low projected turnout, and the absence of decisive late developments have kept implied probabilities tightly clustered, with separation most likely to emerge from final-week turnout patterns, coalition endorsements, or targeted local-issue messaging on transport and city services.
