Gord Krantz, the 89-year-old incumbent mayor seeking a 15th term after first winning office in 1980, holds the strongest position in trader pricing at 46.5 percent for the October 26, 2026, Milton mayoral election. Sameera Ali, the Ward 4 regional councillor who declared her candidacy in late 2025, sits second at 18 percent, with George Minakakis, Maliha K. Ahmed, Nadeem Akbar and seven other certified candidates trailing further behind. The crowded field, which more than doubled from 2022, fragments opposition support around issues of rapid population growth, affordability, infrastructure and taxes. Krantz’s long record of stability contrasts with challengers’ emphasis on fresh approaches, keeping the contest competitive six weeks out. Upcoming advance voting, candidate forums and any late shifts in local priorities could widen or narrow gaps before ballots close.
