Recent easing in China's July consumer price index to 0.5% year-on-year, driven by declining food costs and slower non-food price gains amid subdued domestic demand, has kept trader focus on the 0.5-0.6% and 0.7-0.8% brackets for the August annual reading. Weak consumption patterns, soft producer price trends, and limited pass-through from external energy factors continue to anchor expectations near recent prints. Potential separation could arise from August consumer spending data, any targeted policy support for household demand, shifts in global commodity prices, or unexpected monthly volatility in food or transport components. The closely matched probabilities reflect uncertainty around these near-term catalysts ahead of the early September release.
