Eli Savit secured the Democratic nomination at the party's August 2026 convention after prevailing over other contenders, positioning him as the frontrunner in this open-seat race to succeed term-limited incumbent Dana Nessel. Doug Lloyd emerged as the Republican nominee from his party's earlier convention, setting up a general election matchup on November 3 between two sitting county prosecutors. Trader consensus reflects Savit's stronger implied probability amid Michigan's recent Democratic performance in statewide contests, though the contest remains competitive with minor-party candidates on the ballot and potential shifts from broader turnout patterns or late-cycle developments. Recent candidate events, including Savit's September appearances highlighting enforcement priorities, have not materially altered positioning ahead of the vote.
