Beau Bayh and Max Engling remain the frontrunners in the November 3, 2026, Indiana Secretary of State race, with trader consensus reflecting a tight contest shaped by recent convention results and fundraising dynamics. Bayh secured the Democratic nomination in June and has leveraged family name recognition plus over $2 million in cash on hand to position himself as a challenger to long-standing Republican control of the office. Engling won the GOP nod after incumbent Diego Morales was ousted amid endorsement losses and questions over office practices, but the late primary shakeup has kept the Republican side unsettled. Independent Greg Ballard’s successful petition drive and strong Q2 fundraising have added another viable option, fragmenting support and sustaining narrow margins across outcomes. Upcoming debates and continued spending on election administration issues could further shift probabilities before Election Day.
