Recent polling from late August 2026 shows President Trump's job approval holding near record lows for his second term, with aggregates around 37-39% approve and net ratings between -17 and -32 points. Traders appear to weigh ongoing pressures from low support for U.S. actions related to Iran (near 31% in recent surveys), record-low approval on prices and inflation, and the shift of border security to net negative territory. Declines in strong approval among Republicans and widening gaps between strong disapproval and approval have reinforced expectations of further softening or limited upside in the immediate period. These factors align with the 58% implied probability on "Down" this week, reflecting trader assessments of sustained economic and foreign policy headwinds.
