Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 13 point to a high near 73–74°F under partly sunny skies with north-northwest winds of 10–15 mph and a 30–40% chance of afternoon showers. This aligns closely with the near-even market split between the 72–73°F and 74–75°F bins, reflecting uncertainty over how much any showers or increased cloud cover might cap daytime heating versus full solar insolation under clearer conditions. A cooler air mass arriving behind a front has already lowered temperatures from today’s mid-80s readings, while lake influences and model spread on precipitation timing introduce modest variability around the expected peak. Updated short-range model runs and real-time observations on the 13th will likely resolve the narrow gap.
