The DPP's formal nomination of legislator Chen Su-yueh has anchored trader consensus around her prospects for the Changhua County magistrate post in the 2026 local elections, drawing on party machinery and her legislative record in a key central Taiwan constituency. KMT deliberations over Wei Ping-cheng and potential independent runs by former mayor Chiu Chien-fu highlight opposition fragmentation, which sustains tightness by splitting anti-DPP support and leaving room for late shifts based on primary resolutions, joint opposition polls, or turnout patterns among local voting blocs. Scheduled candidate announcements and any cross-party coordination could alter implied probabilities before election day.
