Incumbent Republican Nick Begich III holds a clear lead in the August 18, 2026 top-four primary for Alaska’s at-large U.S. House seat, with recent surveys showing him at 46-47 percent against independent Bill Hill and a fragmented field of other Republicans, independents, and minor-party candidates. The nonpartisan primary advances the four highest vote-getters to a November ranked-choice general election. Democrat Matt Schultz’s withdrawal in July narrowed opposition, while Begich benefits from incumbency in a state that has favored Republicans in most federal contests. With the primary just days away, turnout among independents and late shifts among the roughly dozen declared candidates remain the main variables that could alter advancement.
