**ABC World News Tonight with David Muir** maintains steady weekly averages near 8.3 million total viewers as the top-rated evening newscast, keeping trader sentiment tightly clustered across the 7–10 million bins. Daily fluctuations hinge on breaking international stories, such as the Aug. 10 Colombia earthquake coverage that led the broadcast and typical severe weather segments, creating potential for one episode to pull ahead without a clear frontrunner. Recent Nielsen data show consistent year-over-year gains and minimal competition impact from NBC or CBS, yet the absence of a sustained major U.S. crisis this week leaves room for modest variance. The final episodes of the Aug. 10–16 period, including any late-week developments in storms or political news, represent the key swing factors for the highest-viewed night.
