Trader consensus on September precipitation totals in New York City shows tight clustering among mid-range bins because climatological signals remain mixed at the start of the month. Atlantic hurricane season peaks in September, raising the chance of tropical moisture influx that could push totals above 5 inches, yet steering currents and the absence of a strong El Niño or La Niña pattern limit confident shifts toward extremes. Historical records indicate average September rainfall near 4 inches with substantial year-to-year variability driven by frontal systems and nor’easters. Early-month forecast models and sea-surface temperature updates will provide the next key data points for refining implied probabilities.
