The 2026 FBS rushing touchdowns race remains tightly bunched early in the season because a deep group of proven returning running backs enters with comparable workloads and red-zone roles. Standouts such as Ahmad Hardy at Missouri, Kewan Lacy at Ole Miss, Cam Cook at West Virginia, Mark Fletcher Jr. at Miami, Caleb Hawkins at Oklahoma State, and Jadan Baugh at Florida all posted double-digit scores in 2025 and return to offenses that continue to emphasize the ground game. Early statistical leaders like Darius Taylor and Micah Ford have opened with multiple touchdowns, yet the 12-game slate plus conference play, potential injuries, offensive-line health, and quarterback protection will determine final volume and efficiency. Trader consensus prices reflect this parity, with no single back holding a decisive edge after the opening weekend.
