Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Chicago points to a high in the low-to-mid 70s on September 13, driven by northwest winds behind a cold front that is replacing warmer southwesterly flow. Mostly cloudy skies and a 30-40% chance of light showers or drizzle during the afternoon will limit daytime heating and keep maximum temperatures from reaching the seasonal average near 77°F. Ensemble spreads remain tight around 72-75°F, with small differences in cloud timing and boundary-layer moisture the main variables that could shift the peak by a degree or two. Traders are therefore closely split between the 72-73°F and 74-75°F bins, reflecting the narrow but genuine uncertainty in how much mixing and insolation will occur before sunset.
