Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance shows Austin under persistent upper-level ridging with mostly sunny skies, southerly flow, and minimal cloud cover or moisture on September 14, supporting highs near 98–99 °F—slightly above the 1991–2020 average of 91 °F. This pattern has produced consecutive days in the upper 90s to low 100s, keeping heat indices elevated. Ensemble spread and timing of any diurnal heating or minor boundary-layer mixing create the narrow gap between the market’s top two bins (98–99 °F at 31.5 % and 100–101 °F at 31.0 %), while the 15.5 % on 96–97 °F captures residual downside risk if clouds increase. Updated model runs and morning observations on September 13–14 will further tighten the range ahead of market resolution.
