James Uthmeier holds a strong position in the Florida Attorney General race due to his incumbency following appointment by Governor Ron DeSantis in early 2025, combined with Florida's consistent Republican advantage in statewide contests. Both candidates advanced unopposed through the August 2026 primaries, leaving the November 3 general election matchup set without additional qualifiers. Uthmeier's fundraising edge exceeds 10-to-1 over José Javier Rodríguez, who previously served as a state senator and in the Biden administration. Earlier polling showed narrower gaps, but trader consensus aligns with historical patterns favoring Republican incumbents in the state, where recent presidential margins have exceeded 9 points. No major developments in the past month have shifted the positioning ahead of the general election.
