Dan Patrick, the Republican incumbent seeking a fourth term as Texas lieutenant governor, holds a strong position in the November 3, 2026 general election due to his decisive primary victory and the state's consistent Republican advantage in statewide contests. Vikki Goodwin secured the Democratic nomination following a May runoff, but faces structural challenges in a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide office in nearly three decades. Recent polls from August 2026 indicate Patrick leading by several points, aligning with trader consensus on his reelection prospects. Minor-party candidates, including Libertarian and Green nominees, remain marginal factors. The race centers on legislative influence, with the lieutenant governor presiding over the Texas Senate.
