California's 34th congressional district primary on June 2, 2026, produced a general election matchup between two Democratic candidates, incumbent Jimmy Gomez and challenger Angela Gonzales-Torres. Under the state's top-two primary system, the absence of a Republican finalist in November has driven trader consensus toward a Democratic outcome. The district's longstanding partisan composition and consistent Democratic performance in recent cycles further reinforce this positioning. A Republican victory would require an unprecedented upset in a heavily Democratic Los Angeles-area seat. Late developments such as candidate withdrawal, major scandal, or unforeseen ballot changes remain the primary theoretical paths that could alter the current implied probability, though none have materialized in the post-primary period.
