The ongoing corruption trial against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, involving charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust across three cases dating to the 2020 indictment, remains in the defense evidence phase with no verdict imminent. Judges have repeatedly signaled evidentiary weaknesses in the most serious bribery allegation and urged prosecutors to consider dropping it, a position unchanged after Netanyahu completed 98 days of testimony in June 2026. Recent defense efforts to summon former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit for testimony before the October 2026 election highlight procedural disputes over investigation approvals. Prolonged timelines, with closing arguments and judgment potentially years away, combined with the prime minister’s continued tenure and coalition dynamics, underpin trader consensus that conviction is unlikely in the near term.
