Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Los Angeles on September 12 points to a daily minimum in the mid-to-upper 60s °F, near the 1991–2020 climatological average low of 64 °F, with patchy morning low clouds and fog potentially limiting overnight radiative cooling. Marine-layer depth and onshore flow strength remain the dominant variables, as stronger intrusion of cooler, moister air from the Pacific could push readings toward or below 60 °F, while clearer skies or subtle offshore influences might keep lows near 70 °F. Ensemble spread in short-range guidance creates the observed market balance between sub-60 °F and 78 °F+ outcomes, with resolution hinging on the 12Z–00Z temperature trace at official stations such as LAX or downtown Los Angeles. Updated model runs and marine-layer forecasts issued in the next 24–48 hours will likely narrow the range.
