Broward County’s heavily Democratic electorate and urban voter base have positioned Angie Nixon as the clear frontrunner to carry the county in the November 2026 special election for U.S. Senate. Nixon secured the Democratic nomination on August 18 by defeating Alex Vindman with 56 percent of the vote, including a strong showing in Broward itself despite her opponent’s local residency. As the party’s nominee against Republican incumbent Ashley Moody, who won her primary with nearly 80 percent, Nixon benefits from the county’s consistent preference for Democratic candidates in statewide races. The market’s 96.5 percent implied probability for Nixon reflects this structural advantage and the limited time remaining before Election Day for events that could alter county-level turnout or preferences. Moody would need an unprecedented shift in local support to overcome the county’s partisan lean.
