This market will resolve to "Yes" if, in the 2026 midterm elections, Republicans win a gubernatorial or US Senate election in any state that was won by Donald Trump in the the 2024 US presidential election but was not won by Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". This market will resolve based on the results of all elections, including special elections, that are scheduled to occur in November 2026 as of October 31, 2026. If a required runoff for any such election could change the market’s outcome, the market will remain open until that runoff is conclusively called by this market’s resolution sources. For purposes of this market, the relevant states won by Donald Trump in 2024 but not in 2020 are Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona. No other states will be considered for purposes of this market, and no disputes of any state result from 2020 or 2024 will be considered relevant. A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 Senate elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A Senate candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the Senate elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by either the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/), or by the official state election authorities of the states listed above. Republicans maintain structural edges in multiple 2026 Senate and gubernatorial contests across the Biden-Trump states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where voters shifted from Biden in 2020 to Trump in 2024. Democrats defend exposed Senate seats in Georgia and Michigan while facing open or competitive races elsewhere on the November ballot, creating several realistic paths for at least one Republican win. Cook Political Report and similar ratings highlight these vulnerabilities alongside historical midterm patterns favoring the opposition party in such environments. With primaries underway and no recent developments altering the competitive landscape, traders assign the 78.5% implied probability to Yes based on the low odds of a complete Democratic sweep in these battlegrounds.
