Marine Le Pen’s July 2026 appeal ruling, which shortened her ineligibility period and enabled her candidacy announcement, has clarified the National Rally’s likely ballot presence while Jordan Bardella remains positioned as a potential substitute. A record number of declared or potential candidates—exceeding 25 across the spectrum—reflects fragmentation on the center-right and left, with Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal advancing center-right bids, Bruno Retailleau securing Les Républicains’ nomination via internal vote, and Jean-Luc Mélenchon confirming his La France Insoumise run. First-round polling consistently places Le Pen near 35 percent, underscoring RN momentum ahead of the April 18, 2027 first round. Party consolidation efforts and any further court developments before candidate filing deadlines will shape final ballot composition.
