Amazon confirmed the issue began around 3 a.m. ET, ruled out cyberattacks, and reported full mitigation by midday after engineers addressed the Domain Name System failure. This aligns with trader consensus around internal automation or configuration errors rather than external threats or hardware faults. The outage underscores single-region concentration risks in cloud infrastructure, echoing prior DynamoDB DNS race conditions and CloudFront capacity limits. Key upcoming catalysts include AWS’s detailed post-incident report and any announced changes to DNS management or multi-region failover practices that could influence resolution criteria.
