**Recent July CPI data at 0.5% year-on-year, below expectations, combined with persistent weakness in domestic demand and food-price deflation, has kept trader probabilities tightly clustered around the 0.5–0.8% range for the August annual print.** Core inflation held near 0.9% in July amid subdued non-food pressures, while manufacturing PMI remained in contraction territory at 49.8 in August despite modest improvements in new orders and export demand. Analysts cite favorable base effects and potential seasonal or weather-driven gains in vegetables and pork as the main upside drivers that could lift the reading toward 0.7%, yet ongoing drags from residence costs, abundant food supply, and soft consumer spending continue to cap momentum. The National Bureau of Statistics release, expected shortly, will resolve the market, with the current distribution reflecting uncertainty over whether these offsetting forces produce a modest rebound or another soft outcome.
