Official National Weather Service observations recorded a minimum temperature of 54°F in Denver on September 16, 2026, four degrees above the 1991–2020 normal low of 50°F yet still within the dominant market bin. This outcome aligned with post-frontal cooling under clear skies and light winds that limited overnight mixing, allowing radiational cooling to drop surface temperatures efficiently despite a warm afternoon high of 83°F. Model guidance issued in the preceding 48 hours had converged on lows near or below 52°F, reinforcing trader confidence. Historical analogs from similar September setups show comparable overnight drops when dew points remain low and cloud cover stays minimal. Upcoming resolution depends on final NWS verification rather than preliminary readings, with any measurement revision representing the primary scenario that could shift the outcome.
