**Ongoing extreme heat across the Los Angeles basin, with an active Extreme Heat Warning and offshore flow patterns, drives the tight clustering of market-implied odds around 90–94°F.** Official NWS forecasts show coastal LAX peaking near 89°F under sunny skies while downtown and inland areas reach 96°F amid high heat indices, reflecting microclimate differences from marine layer suppression versus urban heat retention. Recent model runs and yesterday’s 105°F downtown observation underscore sensitivity to wind shifts and boundary-layer mixing that could push peaks into the mid-90s or hold them lower. Historical September averages near 77–84°F highlight the anomalous warmth, with traders weighing these station-specific thresholds and any last-minute forecast adjustments ahead of official daily maximum reporting.
