Recent official MetService forecasts and ensemble model consensus indicate a maximum of 13–14°C for Wellington on September 12 under mainly fine conditions following passage of a cold front, with light southwesterlies shifting northwest and only a low shower chance. These moderate spring temperatures, typical for early September in the region, reflect post-frontal stabilization, partial cloud cover limiting insolation, and the moderating influence of surrounding ocean waters. Trader positioning aligns closely with this guidance, assigning over 80% combined probability to 13–14°C outcomes while discounting warmer or cooler extremes. Updated model runs and MetService briefings through September 11 will provide the next key data points for any late adjustments.
