Gold (XAU/USD) trades near $4,450–$4,600 following a pullback from $4,700 highs, with trader sentiment shaped by expectations for U.S. monetary policy amid sticky inflation. July core PCE at 3.7% has kept alive market-implied odds of a potential Fed rate hike by year-end, while upcoming August nonfarm payrolls, JOLTS, and ISM manufacturing data in the week of August 31 will directly influence rate-path pricing and Treasury yields. Expanded Treasury bond buybacks have supported lower yields and a softer dollar, providing a tailwind, alongside ongoing central-bank purchases. Any hotter-than-expected jobs or inflation prints could strengthen the USD and pressure gold, whereas softer data would likely reinforce the bullish bias above the 200-day moving average.
