Missouri’s 6th congressional district has long favored Republican candidates, reflected in its solid partisan lean and Donald Trump’s 27-point margin there in 2024. The open seat created by longtime incumbent Sam Graves’s March 2026 retirement drew a competitive Republican primary, which radio host Chris Stigall won on August 4 with 44 percent against state and local rivals. Democrat Josh Smead secured his party’s nomination the same day. Forecasters rate the district Safe or Solid Republican, and the August primary results plus fundraising patterns have reinforced trader consensus around a Republican victory in the November general election. A major scandal, significant national political realignment, or unusually high Democratic turnout could narrow the gap, though such shifts remain low-probability events given current fundamentals.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
