Northeast winds off Lake Michigan and clearing skies are steering Chicago toward a high near 77–78°F on September 6, aligning with National Weather Service and private model consensus showing upper-70s readings under mostly sunny conditions. Recent cooling after early-September highs in the mid-90s reflects a shift to onshore flow that moderates daytime maxima, keeping 80°F+ outcomes at low single-digit implied probabilities. The 76–79°F band dominates trader positioning because forecast guidance has remained stable in the last 24–48 hours, with minimal model spread and no incoming warm advection or reduced cloud cover expected to push temperatures higher. Historical September averages near 80°F provide context, but the current synoptic pattern favors the cooler side of the distribution.
