Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a highest temperature in the mid-70s for Chicago on September 13, driven by northwest winds, increasing cloud cover, and a 40% chance of afternoon showers that limit daytime heating. Morning observations near 68–70°F and climatological September averages around 77°F support the market’s heavy weighting toward 74–75°F. Cooler Canadian air advection after warmer prior days has tightened the range, with limited upside risk from clearing skies or stronger southerly flow. Updated afternoon model runs and official high-temperature reports remain the key near-term catalysts for any probability shifts.
