Current National Weather Service point forecasts and supporting model guidance project daily highs near 97–100°F in Austin on September 20 under a persistent upper-level ridge, southerly flow, and minimal cloud cover or precipitation, aligning with late-summer climatology where 90°F is the 1991–2020 average high. These conditions support market-implied probabilities concentrated in the upper bins, though the 48.5% plurality on 89°F or below likely reflects trader weighting of residual model uncertainty, potential minor ridge adjustments, or localized cooling influences ahead of the weekend. Short-term ensembles show limited spread, with heat-index values potentially reaching 105°F; resolution hinges on the official daily maximum reported by NWS stations, and updated guidance or the next model cycle could shift sentiment if steering patterns evolve.
