Incumbent Democrat Josh Kaul holds a clear edge in the November 2026 Wisconsin attorney general race, reflected in trader consensus favoring his reelection bid. As the two-term officeholder seeking a third term, Kaul benefits from established visibility and institutional resources in a state where he prevailed by roughly 35,000 votes against the same Republican challenger, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, in 2022. Both candidates secured uncontested nominations in the August primaries. Toney’s campaign highlights law enforcement ties and critiques of state crime lab delays and narcotics enforcement staffing, supported by early Republican Attorneys General Association advertising. Low name identification for Toney in recent polling and Wisconsin’s recent presidential voting patterns contribute to the market’s implied probabilities, though the contest remains subject to standard campaign variables ahead of Election Day.
