Gold (XAU/USD) has rallied sharply to around $4,600 per ounce as of August 21–22, 2026, extending gains of more than 11% over the past month amid cooling July U.S. CPI prints that have lowered market-implied odds of a September Federal Reserve rate hike. Softer inflation data and a weaker dollar have reduced real-yield pressures on the non-yielding metal, while central-bank buying and lingering geopolitical tensions continue to underpin safe-haven demand. With the week of August 24 featuring limited high-impact U.S. releases initially, traders will focus on any fresh inflation or labor-market signals that could shift Fed funds-rate expectations and Treasury yields, alongside potential volatility from international data or central-bank commentary.
