The closely matched market odds around 56–61°F reflect uncertainty in the precise overnight minimum at Denver International Airport on September 18, 2026, which official NWS observations recorded as 59°F. Key differentiating factors include radiational cooling rates under partly cloudy skies, light southwesterly winds that limited mixing, and boundary-layer moisture that moderated the drop from the prior evening’s 61°F low. Forecasters and traders weighed model guidance on diurnal temperature ranges against historical September averages near 49°F, while noting the day’s above-normal maximum of 86°F and any localized urban heat-island effects. With the final climatological report now available, resolution hinges on confirmation that no station-specific revision alters the 59°F reading.
