Recent Berlin-specific polling through mid-August 2026 shows the CDU holding a narrow but consistent edge over the AfD, typically 18-20% versus 15-19%, even as Die Linke leads or ties in some surveys and national trends favor the AfD. The September 20 election occurs amid broader voter shifts on immigration, housing costs, and security, where the CDU's centrist positioning draws more support in the urban capital than the AfD's platform. Traders price CDU ahead at 68.5% on the direct head-to-head metric because state-level data has not mirrored the AfD's stronger eastern or nationwide momentum, with no late surge or major campaign event yet altering that pattern in available surveys.
